One of the best reasons to become a member of the Wilkes Chamber of Commerce is that your chamber is actively involved in advocating for business issues. Through a working partnership with all levels of government and community organizations, we provide an environment for our members to prosper, and we implement programs to grow new leaders that will help grow our cities and region.
Lobbying and advocacy for a more conducive economic environment are a core activity of this chamber and our partner affiliates, the NC Chamber and US Chamber. Advocacy in all its forms is the basis of our organization’s strength, influence and relevancy.
Government Affairs Sessions:
Sessions are held to keep Chamber members well-informed of local, state, and national government. The sessions are held quarterly and each meeting provides attendees with the opportunity to meet and greet with local government officials and to learn about legislation that could impact their business. Informational sessions are held to provide updates on particular projects and feature guest presenters from NC Dept. of Commerce, NC Department of Transportation, NC Rural Center, Northwest Prosperity Zone, and State Treasurer’s Office. Meetings are normally held in the Chamber Boardroom.
